dedication to our community

Our Commitment to Excellence

Local 1165's dedication goes far beyond firefighting. We're proud of the support we've received from the communities we serve and strive every day to strengthen that bond. We invest tremendous time and effort into our communities by hosting numerous BBQ events and fundraisers throughout the year, including:

  • Billy Jones Railroad Society BBQ
  • Kinship, Adoptive, and Foster Parent Association of Santa Clara County BBQ
  • 911 Dispatcher Appreciation BBQ
  • Political Action BBQs

These events aren't just celebrations -- they support various local organizations and raise funds for causes like the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.

our involvement

Political Advocacy and Firefighter Safety

Our involvement in the political process reflects our commitment to advocating for firefighter safety, working conditions, and other firefighter-related concerns. In affiliation with the IAFF and CPF, our executive board members make annual trips to Washington D.C. and Sacramento, lobbying our representatives for the well-being of firefighters, their families, and the communities we serve.

our history

A Legacy of Service and Unity

At Local 1165, we follow a path forged by our past members, remaining united in our mission. Our first president, Bill Deal, encapsulated our ethos: “We are a non-striking union interested only in the betterment of working conditions and the security of our jobs and our department.” These words, nearly 70 years on, continue to guide us.

The love and passion we have for our profession and for one another provide the strength and motivation for whatever lies ahead. By carrying the torch handed down to us, we ensure the continued excellence of our service, our unity as a membership, and our unique opportunities to serve our communities.
